In 1943 during the German occupation, Django Reinhardt was at the top of his game. Every night he thrilled the whole of Paris at the Folies Bergères with his swing music while in Europe his brothers were being hunted down and massacred. When the German propaganda wanted to send him to Berlin for a series of concerts, he felt the danger and decided to escape to Switzerland with the help of one of his admirers, Louise de Klerk.
