After a true criminal case: A few minutes before killing his father and mother in cold blood, eighteen-year-old Benjamin Feller sends his diary to his French teacher in which he tries to explain the double murder. His decision to drag the teacher into the whirlpool was preceded by a homework assignment in which the teacher demanded that her protégés keep a ruthlessly personal diary. When she comes into the focus of the investigation, the teacher feels compelled to continue the educational relationship with the student who has become a murderer.

Journal de ma tête setzt dort an, wo die schlimmstmögliche Wendung schon erfolgt ist. (...) In zersplitterter Erzählweise kreist der Film obsessiv um das Verhältnis zwischen Literatur und Wirklichkeit, wie es die Lehrerin zu vermitteln suchte: Erzählen als Ersatzhandlung, die uns davor bewahrt, zur Tat zu schreiten. Aber was, wenn ein Schüler den Mythos vom Ödipuskomplex beim Wort nimmt?
