Two older actors visit their former director to convince him of a new film idea. After odysseys and breakdowns in the wintery Appenin, where the two get lost in parts of an erotic film and a philosophical monastery film, they arrive exhausted at the director. He does not think much of mainstream and is able to convince the two of them to shoot a Franciscan film called Die Vogelpredigt.
Die Vogelpredigt ist ein mit subjektiver Kamera gedrehtes Roadmovie, das sich jeglichen Kategorisierungsversuchen entzieht – und ein starkes und einzigartiges Kinoerlebnis. Diese verschrobene und fantastische Fabel geht an die Wurzeln des modernen Filmschaffens – zwischen Kunst und Geschäft – und ist eine urkomische «Mise en abyme» des Schweizer Kinos. (Auszug)
